ABOUT YOUR HOSTS

Adam

Co-Host, Producer.

Adam Barker is a two-time Emmy Award–winning Camera Assistant who has worked on some of television’s biggest events, including The Oscars, The Golden Globes, The Emmys, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Before stepping behind the camera, Adam spent a decade in Development at Paramount Pictures, where he honed his deep knowledge of film history and storytelling.

A lifelong film historian with a special passion for cult, horror, and genre cinema, Adam brings equal enthusiasm to both Hollywood spectacle and the weirdest low-budget gems. His extensive film collection could rival a video store—though much to Charlotte’s dismay, the “no more shelves” rule has been broken more than once.

In addition to his production work, Adam is a freelance writer currently at work on a book about a long-lost Cecil B. DeMille short film. Whether he’s documenting forgotten corners of film history, rolling camera on live TV, or debating the merits of a wild ‘70s horror flick, Adam brings humor, expertise, and a deep love of cinema to everything he does.

Charlotte

Co-Host, Producer.

Charlotte Barker serves as Director of Film Restoration and Preservation at Paramount Pictures, where she has worked for nearly 20 years. She leads the studio’s restoration team, focusing on classic films with a particular emphasis on VistaVision.

Her restoration credits include To Catch a Thief (1955), White Christmas (1954), Dragonslayer (1981), Ragtime (1981), Harold and Maude (1971), and more than 40 VistaVision titles—making her one of the foremost experts on the format.

Charlotte is a sought-after presenter at festivals like the TCM Classic Film Festival, Il Cinema Ritrovato, the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, and the Lone Pine Film Festival, as well as at industry events hosted by SMPTE and the American Cinematographer’s Guild. Her talks have covered everything from the legacy of Sunset Blvd. (1950) to the ethics of film restoration.

Beyond her work at Paramount, Charlotte co-hosts Perf Damage, alongside her husband, Emmy Award–winning camera assistant Adam Barker. At home, she’s surrounded by VistaVision ephemera, and an ever-growing mountain of physical media, popcorn and wine—her preferred fuel for movie marathons. She is currently writing a book on the history of VistaVision, drawing on her deep industry connections and decades of experience to tell the definitive story of this groundbreaking format.
